Dave Prater dies, the deeper half of Sam & Dave
Dave Prater died in a car accident, the baritone voice of the duo Sam & Dave. "Soul Man" and "Hold On, I'm Comin'", recorded at Stax, defined double-dynamite soul: two singers pushing each other to the limit. The Blues Brothers built their entire act on what these two invented.
