Elvis's last concert: the King says goodbye without knowing it in Indianapolis
On June 26, 1977, Elvis Presley played what would be his final concert at Indianapolis's Market Square Arena. Bloated and exhausted, he was still capable of flashes of vocal brilliance that recalled why he was the King. Seven weeks later he would die at Graceland. That night closed, without any ceremony, the first great chapter of rock history.

Mick Jones is born, the secret melody inside The Clash
On June 26, 1955, Mick Jones was born in London — The Clash's guitarist and essential co-writer. If Strummer was the fire, Jones was the architecture: his is the pop instinct of 'Train in Vain' and 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'. Expelled from the band in 1983, he reinvented himself with Big Audio Dynamite, anticipating the fusion of rock, hip-hop and samples.
